As a busy mom, grandmother and business owner, I am on-the-go from morning till night. I know that most of you ladies are in exactly the same boat right? As moms that seems to be our job, to go-go-go all day long. That usually leads to us neglecting ourselves, especially when it comes to our meals. Yesterday was one of those crazy days for me, and I can tell you I handled it so wrong. I had been on the go since morning and at about four I had the worst headache come on, where I could barely see as I was driving the kids to the doctor. So what did I do? I pulled in to a drive thru and ordered a large coffee drink and a hamburger that was loaded with enough calories to last me two days. Not that I don't like to enjoy a good burger and calorie-laden drink, but I usually treat myself to those on the weekend or on family nights. I can not eat like that daily, especially now that I am really giving a healthier lifestyle a go.
Today I decided it was time to plan ahead and not fall into that same trap of skipping lunch and then eating badly. Today I packed myself a healthy lunch, a refreshing fruit bowl and my Kindle so that I could take an actual adult lunch break.
Before heading out for the day I grabbed my cute, floral lunch bag and loaded it up for my day. I packed my water, I dislike mater so much but if I don't pack some up I will stop for soda all day and that's a no-no. I picked out an elevĀte salad. The flavor I packed for today was the Spinach Pow which is SO good, you will wonder how they made spinach so yummy. Also added some fresh watermelon that I picked up at Costco, I grabbed two of these watermelons and we ate them all up, this was the last of it I am sorry to say. Each elevĀte salad has it's own fork packed inside so you literally just pack up a bowl and everything you need to enjoy it is in there. I picked mine up at Costco and I am thrilled to have heard about this brand of superfood salads because we are loving them.
Packing my lunch is not only faster than stopping at a restaurant to eat, it allowed me to sit down and enjoy some reading time while enjoying my food.
