If you watch Spanish language television then you will know who Ana Patricia is. Ana Patricia is one of the co-hosts for “Despierta America”, the highest-rating live news and entertainment morning show from Univision. Before joining the “Despierta America” team in 2012, Ana Patricia was featured in “Nuestra Belleza Latina” in 2010. Since then, she has been a reporter and correspondent for various shows within the network, including “Despierta America”, “El Gordo y la Flaca” and “Premios Juventud”. Now married and living in Miami with her husband Luis Martinez, Ana Patricia loves opening her home and welcoming her guest with small touches that make all the difference. Ana Patricia is also the current spokesperson for Charmin and I recently had an opportunity to ask her a few questions regarding memories of her childhood related to the scent of chamomile and tips for welcoming guests into my own home.
I hope you enjoy this peek into Ana Patricia's life.
When I was little the scent of chamomile or manzanilla was always present in our house. My mom used it not just in her cleaning but in her cooking as well. Is this a scent that you remember from your childhood?
Definitely, not only does it remind me of my childhood but it also transports me to it, I still vividly remember when my mom used to give me warm chamomile tea at night so I could sleep better. Now as an adult, she still does it every time she visits me and also when I’m back home in Mexico.
What are a few tips to make bathrooms more cozy and comforting for your guests?
For me, cleanliness is of prime importance and always having fresh white towels inspires trust and comfort, flowers as a small gesture is never too much either.
I am not a very detailed person and not the greatest hostess. What is an easy way to make every guest in your home feel welcomed and at home?
You always have to give them their own space so that they feel comfortable, when you travel you usually arrive very tired and people tend to forget basic personal items like toothbrushes. A small basket with some of these personal items can solve this immediately and make them feel at home.
I am from Mexico and my children are of a mixed nationality. Living in the U.S., it can be hard to to keep them as immersed in our Mexican roots as I would like. In what ways do you keep your roots and traditions alive in your home?
In my home we speak Spanish and that will be the language that me and my husband will speak to our children, since English is so easy to learn at school. It will also always be a tradition to go back home to Mexico every December to spend the Holidays. It may be for a few days only, but I know it will be enough so that the love for our country stays alive in our hearts.
Scents are a big trigger for memories, what does the scent of chamomile remind you of and how does it make you feel?
It makes me feel at peace and harmony, it’s a fragrance that relaxes me and helps me revive childhood memories. Each time I felt like I was getting sick or my mom saw I was tense, she would give me a little chamomile tea.
At the end of the day, I love nothing more than a soak in the tub while I read a few chapters of my book. Adding the new Charmin plus the scent of Chamomile is a great way to make the bathroom feel more relaxing. What else do you recommend, to make the experience more soothing and restful?
Having instrumental music playing in the background can make your relaxing experience even better. I love having candles and a small detail that helps create a perfect ambiance is adding flowers right next to them.
Charmin recently introduced Charmin plus the scent of Chamomile. Each roll has the scent of Chamomile added to the tube to create a bathroom experience that soothes all of the senses. I love this new roll and because the scent is released as the roll is used, my bathroom is always infused with this wonderfully cozy scent. For those who grew up with scented bath tissue, this can be a small way to carry on a family tradition. If you’re looking for a new way to freshen up your bathroom, Charmin plus the scent of Chamomile helps provide your family a soothing bathroom experience. When I was young the scent of chamomile was always present in my house and it is definitely a tradition that I have carried over into my own home. I love this new Charmin scented bathroom tissue which always takes me back to my childhood. Find out more about Charmin and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
