My First #Ipsy Bag! #IpsyApril 2014

After thinking about it for over half a year I finally decided to get into the whole subscription bag hoopla. I love watching my favorite vloggers open up their subscriptions of the various types of goodie bags and the one that I kept seeing have items that I myself would want to try was Ipsy. I loved their February bag and got into the waiting list at that point and missed out on that one plus the March bag which was also pretty great. Finally at the end of March I got off the list and was happy to receive my bag somewhere around the 9th of Arpil. I wanted to take some time with the products before I gave my thoughts on them and now it is May! Time sure flies when you are super busy.

BEAUTY ROCKS April IPSY bag filled with:

Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Apple Pink: This is a sample size in a full size presentation. Full sizes are filled with product all the way to the top, ours had less than half of product. Full product retails for $19.

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size: This is a very generous travel size version of the product. The full sized pencil retails for $20.

Demeter Jasmine Perfume Oil Roll On: This is a full sized roll on which retails for $10.

dr. brandt® microdermabrasion: Sample size of a product that retails for upwards of $80.

Elizabeth Mott pop! goes the shadow in Champagne: this is a full size product which retails for $12.99

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil: This is my first time trying out Urban Decay eye pencils. During the holidays I was really tempted one day when Ulta had a set of them on sale but since I had never tried them I didn't know whether or not they were worth the price. That is why I was so happy to see this in my bag. Being the queen of black eyeliner I did not find this pencil to be as soft upon application as others have mentioned. After a few applications it softened up a bit but I have a Jordana Liquid Eyeliner pencil that costs $3 and applies a lot smoother. Once I did my top water line I did find that it stayed put all day and really is as black as black can be. That is always super important when picking a black eyeliner. However I found that this liner refused to stay put on my water line after an hour or so.

Bottom line- glad I tried it, it's okay but I would not pay $20 for the larger version. So I would NOT purchase this.

dr. brandt® microdermabrasion: at first I was bummed to find such a tiny bottle of a product I rarely ever use. But when I used it the first time it was love. This is the softest, microdermabrasion exfoliant I have ever used. I have rosacea on my cheeks and anything abrasive really flares it up. But this product has the finest particles that very lightly scrub away at dead skin and leaves your face so soft and smooth. And the smell!! It smells like lemons, so invigoration and clean.

Bottom line- I would love to purchase the full size one day when it goes on some sort of sale.

Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Apple Pink: Being a lippy girl this is what I was most excited for. I was immediately dissapointed to have received the lighter of the two shades Ipsy gave out. Still I love the presentation of this product and how nicely the brush is incorporated. I am not a person who minds bulky packaging as many do, so I really love this presentation. I was prepared to hate the balm because that color was such a turn off from the top, like a nude/beige. Once I got past the first layer though I found that the color is actually more of a pinky tone and something I could work with. I grabbed a tiny bit on my brush and was shocked at how pigmented it is and how far a little went! Wow. It goes on smooth and dries to the point where you can barely feel it on your lips, which is good. The only gripe I have is that it is too drying and went into my fine lines after the moisture dried up. I will have to wear it with a gloss or balm underneath next time to see if we can fix that situation.

Bottom line- Since that first time I have worn it a few times and I've grown to like the product. I almost bought the Ipsy special where they had two full sizes for $20. I loved the dark red they had in that special. But then I remembered the extra work I would have to do in order not to have my lips dry out or my fine lines show and I skipped it. Might buy it one day if a color I like is on sale, might now. IDK?!

Demeter Jasmine Perfume Oil Roll On: I love scents and I really enjoy roll on versions. Demeter Jasime is a beautiful very floral scent that you smell as soon as you open the bottle. This scent is very strong so a little bit goes a long way and I didn't find it to be overly sweet at all. I liked this a lot.

Bottom line- yes, I would repurchase this scent and a few others. $10 is a very good price for this product, it's going to last for so long.

Elizabeth Mott pop! goes the shadow in Champagne: What a cute presentation on this shadow. The packaging is very bright and happy and the little compact clear and fun. I don't wear eye shadows too often so I don't get excited when I see them. But this is a very pretty champagne color that is perfect for sweeping on the lids, under lashes and in the tear duct area. You can even pop some on as a highlighter.

Bottom line- Because of the pretty shade and its many uses, I do like this. I don't think I would purchase it again or another because I don't wear eye shadow on the norm. It would depend on how much use I end up getting out of this one.

Overall my first Ipsy bag was a huge success. I loved the squared little bag, which is so handy. I basically liked each item upon using it and there was not one that I did not like. For a $10 subscription I really think you get what you pay for and MORE. Of course it all depends on your luck and what you get that particular month. I am excited to see what May is going to bring us, already the hints are rolling out and some stuff looks pretty awesome. If you are interested in joining Ipsy, here is my link. It is $10 per month and so far for me, it is so worth it.
