As soon as spring arrives with its super cute fashions and warmer weather, I usually begin to dread the coming summer. It's not that I don't love summer, because I do. The problem is that when you are overweight, it is so hard to enjoy a weather that calls for light clothing, while you are stuck in big tops and jeans. As you know, I have been working making some changes to my lifestyle so that by the time summer arrives I can hopefully be at least a few pounds lighter. Because I am a more relaxed person, none of the changes I am making are drastic or severe in any way. Instead I am making small but meaningful changes to my days. One of the biggest changes that I am making is to how many times I eat in a day and how much I move around. For me it is actually about eating more than the two times I normally do, and watching those calories more closely. But just because I am going to watch my calories doesn't mean that I want to eat or drink anything that either tastes like it's diet or lacks flavor. I believe in enjoying what I eat and drink.
Today is a perfect example of how cutting back on calories, doesn't have to be painful. How? By eating my normal lunch and instead of having a regular sugary soda, we had two of the four TEN Sodas from the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. These four sodas are only ten calories and taste so good, you don't even realize you are working your way to a better body just by substituting regular sodas with them. I found these sodas at my local Walmart and grabbed a bottle of 7-up TEN and Canada Dry TEN for today's lunch. They were out of stock on the A&W TEN and Sunkist TEN flavors, so I will have to wait to try those, but the two we got are really good.
Adrian was making our favorite ensalada de tuna and I wanted to spice the drinks up a little since it's not everyday that we get to eat together. You know it really doesn't take a lot to make a regular lunch like ours a lot more fun. All I had to do was take out some fresh strawberries and some super sweet oranges my mom sent me and cut them up to add to each of our drinks. I added strawberry slices to my Canada Dry TEN and the oranges to his 7-up TEN.
Immediately everything looked more festive and special, perfect for our little lunch.
Because my weeks tend get so busy, these moments that we actually get to sit and eat together, are pretty special. I really must make a note to do this more often with him.
Making small changes like substituting TEN Sodas with regular full calorie sodas, will help me stay on track for my weight loss target. It's about making those small changes, that will make all the difference in the end. And it doesn't even have to be painful. Not when you can have full flavor without sacrificing taste. Try TEN sodas for yourself, and let me know what you think!
