My comunidad is a very important place because it is where my hijas and grandchildren are being raised. We are pretty new to the area we live in, but even thought we have been here for such a short time, I am still very interested in helping to make it a better place. Everyday we take a walk around our neighborhood and it's sad to see just how many things our town is missing. So many streets don't even have sidewalks, and in a town full of seniors who ride on wheel chairs, it's a huge problem. There is only one tiny park for all the ninos and it is in dire need of repair and major updating. The public pool only opens a few hours a day during el verano, which tends to be really hot in this area. The senior center offers very limited support to our seniors, which is why I've never even gone there with my mom. These are just a few of the areas that could use extra funding in our town.
Last week I told you about how State Farm Neighborhood Assist is going to be helping communities across the US and Canada by giving away 40 $25,000 State Farm Neighborhood Assist grants. These grants can go a long way into funding projects that improve educational opportunities in our neighborhoods. Community development is also very important for older towns like mine. It's all about funding projects that can help strengthen our neighborhoods and give our familia a better life. If your community could use some extra funding, State Farm is inviting you to submit your cause via the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook app. As of March 3rd, causes have started being accepted via the app, and with a total of only 4000 causes being accepted, you need to move quickly to ensure that your cause makes it in for consideration. The deadline for cause submissions is March 23rd or as soon as 4000 submissions have been placed. As of this minute, there are only 2,626 submission spots left.
After the submission deadline, the State Farm Youth Advisory Board will then review all submissions and identify the top 200 based on a scoring rubric. The top 200 causes will be announced on April 28 and will go on to the voting phase. Anyone who has the free Facebook app can vote for their favorite causes with up to 10 votes per day until May 16. The top 40 vote-receiving causes will then each receive a $25,000 grant for their cause. The top 40 vote-receiving causes will be announced via the Facebook app on May 27.
Submissions are going pretty quickly. If you have a cause you feel really strongly about, submit it today and don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to make your neighborhood a better place to live in. Submit your cause via the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook app today!
