I don't have the biggest budget for cell phones and data plans, yet all my girls have one. The key to being able to do this, was finding the lowest priced unlimited plans for them. Walmart Family Mobile has been the girls plan for almost six months and today Adrian and I were able to add their baby sister to their plan as well. Sammy is only going to be seven, she is very young, I know. But she joined the drama club a few weeks ago and she has to stay after school a few times a week. I have to be able to communicate with her on these days, to make sure she makes it to the meeting place and when it's time to arrange her pick up. For me, having my 1st grader staying after school is already a bit traumatic, she is my baby! There is no way I would he comfortable allowing her to keep staying after class, without being able to check on her a few times to make sure she is okay.

We wanted to wait until her birthday next month, but taking advantage of tax season, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to be able to get her a nice smart phone to go with her Unlimited Talk Text and Data/Web plan. Adrian and I headed to Walmart this morning after dropping her off, to check out the cell phones and get a refresher on the #FamilyMobile plan. I think Adrian still felt a bit skeptical about how much we were going to have to spend on this cell phone. He is not big on spending large amounts of money on cell phones, because he has seen how many my older girls have gone through. But Walmart Family Mobile has a variety of cell phones under $100, the lowest flip phone being only $29. Once he saw the Nokia Lumia was truly only $98.88, he felt a lot more comfortable that we were not overspending on a phone.

It's super easy to get started with Walmart Family Mobile

  • Head to Walmart and pick your phone.
  • Purchase a Starter Kit/SIM card : $25
  • Activate online, which takes about 15 minutes
  • Choose your plan: unlimited talk and text ($29.88) or unlimited talk, text and data ($39.88)
  • Only pay for the phone and starter kit, you will receive a bill in a few weeks for the month.

The Nokia Lumia Windows phone is a very good looking cell phone. If you're switching from Android to Windows, it takes a little bit to get used to it but Sammy has had a tablet for a few years now, so I'm sure it won't be long before she's mastered it.

Why is it so much easier for kids to understand technology than for grownups?

She immediately figured out how to put on her own screensaver, just like her sisters have.

Staying in touch with my little Cheetos monster is now going to be so much easier.

The low price of the phone as well as the super low price on the monthly plan made this purchase possible even under tight circumstances. With our recent move and all those extra expenses, it was hard to realize we would need to get yet another phone. But I wouldn't have it any other way now that she is staying after school so much. Her phone is also going to help her keep in touch with her dad when he is in Mexico as well as with all of her sisters. I can already see all of the texting that is going to be happening between them all.

Staying in touch with loved ones is what it's all about, and that should not have to be something that breaks the bank. Walmart Family Mobile really is the affordable family wireless plan. I will sleep better tonight knowing my little one is only a call or text away at all times. Visit the Walmart Family Mobile site for more info about this affordable service.
