Today as part of the #LoveYourCup Social Bias sponsored campaign, I am sharing a special moment of connection with my daughter.
If you know me at all or follow me on social media, you know I live for coffee. And you also know by now that I am a huge fan of Pumpkin Spice coffee, lattes and frappes. As soon as Nestle pulled out the Pumpkin Spice Coffee -mate a few months ago, I was all over it. Coffee just seems to make everything so much better, it really does. When you add a delicious creamer then it's not just coffee anymore, it is an event. I always love having coffee and flavored creamers ready for when anyone drops by. During the holiday season it becomes even more important because a lot of the memories we create are centered around the kitchen. I always say that "it's the little things" that we have to enjoy, and a good cup of coffee can make every moment extra delicious and memorable.
I don't have the fondest memories of the holidays from when I was a child. That is why I have always made an extra effort with my kids, to give them special memories and moments that they can look back on when they are older. Now that Sammy is my only little one, I have to make sure that she has as many great moments as her sisters had. Two weekends ago we took a trip to see the first snow at Big Bear.
We've also been doing a lot of shopping together, even Black Friday. While holiday shopping can get hectic, there is always an opportunity to sit back and relax while enjoying the holiday decor. I've still got to take her back to get her picture with Santa, because that is another holiday must that she must endure!
But even when we are home, there are plenty of memories to be made. A lot of those "little" moments that aren't a big deal, are the ones that she will remember later on.
Last night as Sammy and I were sitting down finishing homework and working, I made a cup of Nescafe to get some extra energy to keep going. This is when Sammy said that Santa would probably rather have a nice cup of coffee than a glass of milk on Christmas eve, since he is also going to need a lot of energy. Of course! So we set about to planning exactly what we will have for him when he visits our house in a few weeks. Not only is Santa going to have yummy cookies, he is going to have a hot cup of Nescafe with an extra shot of Coffee -mate Pumpkin Spice creamer. Sammy had a great time preparing his note and getting the two cutest cookies she could find and setting the perfect plate for him. We also had a good time sitting down and eating those delicious cookies, after all Santa won't be here for a while. One cup of Nescafe with Coffee -mate Pumpkin Spice creamer, a glass of milk and two cookies, was all it took to make a very special moment with my child.
When family begins to arrive in a few weeks, there will be plenty of coffee and flavored creamers to go around. I can't wait for cafe con pan dulce for breakfast, iced coffee topped with mounds of whipped cream with lunch, and the nightly ritual of coffee and gossip with all my girls around me. Coffee just makes it easy to connect with family and friends during the holiday season. How do you create special moments of connection with family and friends?
