The Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm is a product I saw another blogger review and she really gave them a thumbs up. Before that I had looked at them but not purchased and after seeing her review, I knew I wanted to try them. These are the Applelicious Glossy Balms in Apple Plum Pie and Apple Blueberry Pie, which I got for $1.7 each,. The City Proof Gloss in Round The Clock Ruby cost $2.10.
Applelicious Glossy Balm in Apple Blueberry Pie
I love how the balms smell! For that alone, I would probably by them. But they also have a very nice amount of buildable color. You can start off with just a hint of color or go much darker. This color is too pink (lavender pink) for me, but the feel of the balm is very nice and your lips do feel moisturized during and after use. Staying power is just a few hours, which is the norm for lip balms and it was no problem to reapply and get some more of that wonderful scent on my lips. For the regular price of $2.99, I think these are a steal.
Applelicious Glossy Balm in Apple Plum Pie
This deeper color is more my shade and just like the other it smells like sweet apples. What really does it for me with these glossy balms is that there is not too much gloss. I don't do glossy lips, it tends to be messy and sticky. I also happen to have big lips which really stand out if I am wearing a lot of glop on them. These have just enough balm and color for me and I am going to be getting a few more colors, I'm sure the girls are going to take most of them anyways. But I really do like these a lot!
City Proof Gloss in Round The Clock Ruby was disappointing to me. It's not just that I am not a gloss girl, it's that this is why I do not like gloss in the first place. I had hoped that these would be similar to Wet N Wild's Mega Last Liquid Lip Colors, which are vibrant, so pigmented and matte, with amazing stay on power. This was actually sticky, lumpy and went on really uneven. It does have a very pleasing citrus like scent but that was not enough to make up for that terrible coverage and the sticky feel. I would NOT repurchase this ever again :(!
So you can see just how pigmented the Applelicious Glossy Balms are and how uneven the City Proof.
Overall not bad, two out of three is pretty good and since these are so affordable, I am not losing out on much. I hope you have enjoyed this review and my unedited and unfiltered photos. I will be bringing you many more reviews, now that I feel comfortable enough in my skin to show you what products look like on. And if you happen to buy any of these, let me know what you think. I would love some feedback!
Which shade above is more you?
