Keeping Your Family Healthy : Lysol's Healthing Initiative

Why do you clean your home day after day?

Sure, we all clean to help keep our homes look tidy and nice, but the biggest reason why we clean so much, why we disinfect high traffic areas and purchase products that help fight germs, is our family. We are all trying to keep our families as healthy as possible, we are all trying to keep all those germs that cause illness away from our loved ones. With four young children in my house, you can bet that I am constantly wiping down areas and trying to keep the kids environment as sanitary as possible.

Introducing Healthing!

Lysol also believes in helping to protect our loved ones. They have come up with the Lysol Healthing Initiative and partnered with Giuliana Rancic to visit YMCAs in select markets across the country to demonstrate Healthing in action.

Lysol will provide attendees at the YMCA locations with hands-on education about their many products and tips on how to improve hygiene habits in their homes and with their families. Kids especially have a hard time with hygiene, so Lysol will give you fun ideas that kids will enjoy, so they will want to practice keeping clean even on their own. LYSOL will also provide educational information and disinfecting products to the same local YMCAs, along with the donation of a one-year membership to one deserving family.

Here are a few Lysol Healthing Tips:
  • Don’t let spring cleaning overwhelm you – take it one room at a time and stock up on products that will help you get the job done effectively, including Lysol products, paper towels, sponges, and trash bags.
  • Know the difference between cleaning and disinfecting! Both are important components of the Healthing process and Lysol has products that can help with all related tasks.  While leaning and organizing is certainly important, killing germs on commonly touched surfaces can lower the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses between members of the family.
  • Don’t forget to disinfect places that you don’t see or think about often, like the door knobs, cabinet handles or sink drains.
  • Practice proper hand washing as well after you clean, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer.  Hand washing is the single most important thing you can do to prevent illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

My favorite and all time go-to sanitizing Lyson product is the Lysol Disinfecting Spray. You can find one in my bathroom, on top of the fridge and always an extra in the cleaning closet. It's one of the tools that I use to keep germs away from my kiddos, who are so important to me. You can also take part in the Lysol Healthing Initiative, visit them online, like them on Facebook and download the Guidebook for many tips to keep your house and your family HEALTHY.
