Learning to live my best life has not been easy. For the longest time I thought happiness came in the form of having money, of being able to buy my girls anything they wanted. All that time I wasn't teaching them to be self-reliant and responsible, instead I was teaching them to be needy, wasteful, irresponsible and never have to do for themselves.
If these past 5 years have taught me nothing else, they have taught me to be thankful and to do the best I can, with what I have. Living the best life is great when you have a job, a nice home, the car of your dreams, and the best family life you can offer your kids. But life is not always perfect and it's not till all those things are taken away that you find out what life is really about.
Being without a steady job and weekly pay was really rough at first and I didn't have a clue as to how we would get past it. As time has passed and I am still in this situation, I have learned that I can still live my best life, because the important things in life have nothing to do with money. Being able to stay home with my kids after so many years of only seeing them a few hours at night, has been priceless. Being able to take my daughter to Kindergarten and pick her up, which is something I hadn't been able to do with China and Ciara, has been so important.
I have also loved not having a boss and having to have my life dictated and every hour since waking up spoken for by a 9-5 (more like 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) job. Of course I miss the money and we could certainly use it, but now I decide what jobs I want to take and I can work around my schedule. I no longer miss important days in my childrens lives, I can take them to the doctor every day during the week if I so choose to. Having to work for myself has given me a new lease on life and I know it's only get better as the time passes.
Living my best life is appreciating all that I do have now and looking forward to what is to come. Are you living your best life or is there something you can do to make it better?
