George Takei & Nicole Richie to Join The New Normal...

Star Trek and Simple Life fans rejoice, Sulu and Paris Hilton's former BFF are both returning to the small screen and not via any of those ridiculous celebrity competition shows either. No, out and proud George Takei and Nicole Richie will be joining the cast of NBC's The New Normal! Yay! The New Normal is a 30 minute comedy that airs on NBC Tuesday nights about a single mother who decides to become a surrogate for a gay couple. Barely in it's freshmen year, the show has already had some modest success, praise from critics, and delivered consistent ratings. There has been no word yet on their potential characters or who they will be portraying. The New Normal stars Justin Bartha (The Hangover), Andrew Rannells (Broadway's The Book of Mormon and Girls), Georgia King  (One Day), Ellen Barkin (This Boy's Life and Sea of Love), and NeNe Leakes (The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Glee). The New Normal was created by Glee and Chuck writer Ali Adler and Ryan Murphy who created hit shows like Glee, American Horror Story, and Nip/Tuck. In fact the news was just announced today by the show runner himself in a tweet to his fans...

George Takei is best known for his role as Sulu in Star Trek and his appearence as himself in Celebrity Apprentence. Nicole Richie is not well known for her acting but she has appeared on the small screen in her reality show with Paris Hilton called The Simple Life and Fashion Star.
