Help Boys and Girls Club of America Provide Kids w/Much Needed School Supplies

What do you do to prepare your kids for going back-to-school? Just as important as buying them school supplies and new clothes, is preparing them to get into a learning state of mind. Do you talk to them about goals that they want to achieve during the school year or give them tips on time management? Sam's dad and I started getting her ready a few weeks ahead of time. We made time to sit down and practice letters and numbers. We talked about how much fun she would have and how many things she would learn. We practiced and practiced her first name and last name with the correct capitalization.

Sam was also lucky enough to get an entire school wardrobe along with all off the supplies she needed. But there are a lot of kids who are not as lucky as she, and they need help getting  the school supplies they need to go back-to-school. The Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) and Disney have partnered to launch the Tools for Back to School initiative. This initiative features a pop-quiz style game, where supplies are donated to BGCA for every correct answer you score.

You can also find educational content and parenting tip sheets to download and utilize. These are chock full of tips that will come in handy, especially those first few weeks. Some of the tips I really liked are;

  • Establish a daily routine
  • Provide a distraction free environment for homework time
  • Be flexible
  • Set Goals
  • Be a cheerleader

Another way you can lend your support this August by shopping at JcPenney and joining jcp cares. Then round up your purchases at the register to benefit BGCA. Learn more about this "round up' by visiting this link.

I encourage you to visit the BGCA site and play the Supply Drive Game. This won't cost you a dime and 5 correct answers means school supplies for one child. As of this posting 18,866 supplies have been donated. And of course if you still have to shop for clothes and shoes, I hope you can shop at JCP and "round up" These are our kids, in our country, that need help and we can provide them help with these simple steps. Let's help the Boys and Girls Club of America and Disney help kids!

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Boys and Girls Club. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate."

I like how the tips are tied into school prep. It is more that supplies and clothes -- like a good attitude and being ready and ongoing support. Thanks for the post.
