Sunday Trip to Idyllwild, Ca ~! - Sammy Makes Six

Sunday Trip to Idyllwild, Ca ~!

Idyllwild is nestled in the San Jacinto mountains. Set among tall pines, sweet smelling cedars and Legendary rocks. The town has kept its "small town" atmosphere. Locally owned shops and restaurants are all you will find here.

Idyllwild is really easy to get to, it is only about 25 minutes up the San Jacinto mountains. After our delicious Chinese food lunch we went to walk around the village.

The Rustic Theater shows one movie at a time for only $5. Last week BF and Sam saw The Smurfs. This week it was Rise of The Planet Of the Apes. Refreshments are also really cheap. Popcorn starts from $1 for a personal size to $6 for a family tub. Sodas are $1-$3.

On weekends all the little store and businesses really thrive, the gifts store features carvings by local artists.

The line to the candy store was HUGE. This is the tiniest of shops, serving everything from frozen cheesecake on a stick, ice cream, shaved ice and candied apples.

Jack always has to make a stop there for novelty candies. We purchased the $2 shaved ice, and sorry I spaced and forgot to take pictures of them.

Sam and I took a breather by the gift shop while the girls were in the candy store. Such a pretty view from where we relaxed.

A few shots of the town from above.

Next we went into our favorite shop, Lady of the Lake.

Lady of the Lake, is a New Age/Metaphysical Book & Gift store.  They sell books, candles, jewelry, tools for the craft, incense, clothing, statues, (dragons, fairies, mermaids, angels, Buddha & Eastern statues, etc.), Dreamcatchers & American Indian statues, mystical mugs, pewter statues and pewter goblets, amulets, crystal balls, feng shui crystals and tools, aromatherapy burning pots, essential oils and perfume oils, hand made soaps, lotions, bath salts, prints, posters, and lots of mystical greeting and note cards.  We also hold classes on meditation, tarot, astrology, psychic development, etc.

One day I will do a review of this shop alone. We love going in for little trinkets, candles and spiritual jewelry. Jack has a beautiful tarot set she bought here and even BF has a big fondness of this store. One day we might splurge and get a card reading, but that kind of freaks me out. So we stick to the other stuff, and yes if you ask me, we do believe in this stuff just a bit. It's mostly for fun but we are very spiritual versus religious.

Here he is showing us the new "success" necklace he just purchased. It has a little vial filled with magical green fairy dust that should bring the wearer success in whatever they are trying to achieve. Will this really work?? Probably not...but no harm in trying it out. We need all the help we can get! Plus it was only $5.99 and a fun little trinket that he will enjoy wearing.

Afterwards we sat in the town square and let Sammy run about a bit. We usually go into Higher Grounds to hang out a bit and have some coffee but the altitude made me feel a bit dizzy the whole time we were there so I wasn't in the greatest of moods.

But we enjoyed our trip and look forward to going back on a cooler day or when the snow comes! That's when Idyllwild is prefect to visit. If you are ever near the area I do recommend you stop by, it is a picturesque, perfect little town that welcomes tourists with open arms.
